I've been a full-time artist for a number of years, and a professional artist for many more. I've sold over a million dollars in art, and this is something I have observed over the years. I often don't sell work the first time I share it. Sometimes I don't sell it the 5th, 10th, 20th, or 100th time. That doesn't mean it won't sell. It just means I need to share it again. All it takes is that one right person to see it at the right time 👀
I see a lot of artist out there there sharing stuff one time, or not at all, and that's that. If that's what you want to do, so be it. I can say with certainty that if I took that approach, I would not be where I am today. Don't worry about being annoying, or sharing something older. Don't worry if you've shared it a dozen times already. Maybe get a different angle or share something different about it. I do it all the time, and the truth is, it's new for the people that haven't seen it, or maybe someone catches it on a day when it really hits. You never know 🤷
This past weekend I sold four paintings, all because I shared an older piece again. Three of the four pieces that sold were about five years old, and pieces I had shared many times without successfully finding a forever home. This time they found one ❤️
