I have to pause for a second to address something serious, and because I have a platform, I'm going to use it. Today I had to physically intervene in a public domestic situation between two strangers to help a young girl that I'm guessing was probably still in her teens. I'm not going to get into great detail, but if you are in a situation where someone is getting possessive or putting their hands on you, please leave. These situations rarely, if ever, get better. I'm speaking as someone that lost someone over 10 years ago that I loved dearly. I know she was likely murdered, but because there is no body, little has been done and it's just a stagnant cold case. This stuff really happens.
Equally disturbing was that this was happening in public. I know I wasn't the only person that saw what was going on because it was on the main stretch in Balboa Park, yet nobody was doing a damn thing. I actually ran by, but kept looking back, hoping it wasn't what I thought, that it would dissolve, or that someone else would do the right thing. I saw nobody else was going to help her, so I circled back. If you see someone in trouble, please help them. You might be the only person that does.
I've seen this happen too many times that I know they probably started talking again as soon as I left, but I did take the time to talk to her and offer a little support. You can't make decisions for people, but you can let them know there is a way out ❤️
