How To Sell More Art Around The Holidays

4 Quick tips for selling more art around the holidays, and quite honestly, the rest of the year too.

1-Value Yourself

Your art has value. Recognize it. Claim it. Artists have a tendency to undervalue what they do. At the end of the day, you decide your value. If you test something and it doesn't work or you don't like it, you can always change it later, but it's much easier to go down than up once you get rolling, so start high.

2-Bump Prices

Once you determine your value, consider bumping your pricing up a little more. This gives you wiggle room to negotiate or work deals on multiples, it also helps pad yourself if you offer something like free shipping. Collectors love free shipping, and everyone likes a deal. Consider adding as many payment options as possible, but remember cash is still king when possible. Those fees add up. Payment plans could be another great option to offer collectors, because they can definitely help close deals while extending income streams.

3-Plan Ahead

Shipping can face unexpected delays or variables, particularly around the holidays. Pad those lead times and plan ahead, well ahead.

4-Give More

Underpromise and overdeliver. This applies to number 3, but everything else too. If you follow step 2, you may have a little wiggle room to include a gift pack or tiny freebie. Throw in something like a personalized thank you card sharing your appreciation, and maybe some stickers. If you take care of people and give them a better than expected experience, they may come back again, and they may also be inclined to help spread the word about you and your art.

I hope this helps. Share your tips!
