The Rose That Grew From Concrete

My latest painting is an homage to Tupac. This is "The Rose That Grew From Concrete." Though technically part of my "Roots" (yang) collection, it experimentally blends techniques with my complementary "Open Wounds" (yin) collection. This piece also incorporates one of my signature techniques in such a way that it could be interpreted as cracks in the concrete that are filled with gold, making reference to the Japanese art of "Kintsugi." The idea behind this is that our struggles are part of our history and only add to our beauty.
